Project Summary
Yaak is a spatial intelligence company which offers developer tools and OSS for robotics. Their multimodal search, visualization, trend discovery, dataset curation and open source AI research enables the pioneers of robotics to build end-to-end spatial intelligence — effortlessly. Founded at the cusp of automotive industry’s increasing need of tools for searching through petabyte scale multimodal datasets and assessing safety, Yaak crafted their tools to be platform agnostic, which will enable transformational change to how we unlock automation across multiple industries.

Strategy
We trust our vehicles to aid us in solving complex tasks while getting us from A, delivering our food and packages, mowing our lawns, and harvesting our crops, just to name a few. At what point do we start looking at them like robots? For all vehicles to safely and autonomously perform tasks in complex environments like our cities, we must combine today's individual vehicle systems that perform single tasks like “a lane merge on a highway” into one foundational model that operates and performs all those tasks safely in unison to “get a package from the warehouse to user #12412” or “drive me to work today”. So Yaak builds the tools for development teams to do better safety validation, and locate high quality data that's part of ever increasing datasets at the size of petabytes. The brand positions Yaak as thought leaders, publishing thought leadership, and open-sourcing data previously only available to the biggest car manufacturers in the world, to advance safe spatial intelligence.
Identity
Lazy Sundays created a fresh new visual system for Yaak to amplify their new positioning. We created a new logo and marque and a visual system which gives them the building blocks to continue evolving their brand. Critical to their visual system, was a consideration of the visual components and how they can be brought over into their product, to create a seamless user experience. The updated colour palette, typography and strict grid design system allows Yaak to stand out in a crowded market. The minimalist aesthetic exudes professionalism and credibility.
Activation
A big challenge we had when designing the website was how to stand out amongst the many techy, AI powered products out there. With most of these sites designed in dark mode, we took the opposite approach and created a light, open website design. With a strict grid, elements fall into place and provide structure and order to technical jargon. The site is built on Framer and is light weight and easy for the team to continue updating and enriching with content. We also helped them update their product design system, do a full UX audit, and develop high level UX strategy as well as early prototypes so they can deliver on their brand promise, straight from their product's dashboard. Since launch, we've continued our collaboration, improving the UX of their platform and developing an extended colour palette for product, optimised for functionality in light and dark modes.
